I want to let the wings dry, so after I take a break, it's onto the figure.
Using warm colors, I block in the basic skin tones. I like to use a variety
of colors in skin tones...including BLUES! Yes, there are actually blues
(and greens and purples, etc.) in skin tones! |

It's the same deal for the hair. Obviously, I am using a smaller bristle
brush, now. But I am not trying for any real detail yet. I like to mix
in some darker cool colors where shadows will be.

I use a bunch of different brushes and knives and stuff to apply the
paint. And I like the paper palettes for mixing colors on. By the way,
since I am right-handed, I keep all of this junk to the right of the
drawing table!

Here is the figure all roughed in.

And here is a close up of the roughed-in face. Looks kinda creepy at
this stage!

I start the finishing of the figure with Azziza's lovely face. Using
small brushes and patience, the details start to take on a bit more realism.
I keep the reference photos close at hand for this.

Slowly, carefully I try to smooth out the blending on the rest of the
figure. Gradually working from the darker areas to the light, adding
a bit more detail, as I go. I use a combination of working with mostly-dry
brushes and glazing with thinned-down washes for this.
